…National job search site FlexJobs which specializes in telecommuting, freelance and flexible jobs, finished a report that shows a measurable change in the percentage of workers who telecommuted in the Triangle region. The data was pulled from the U.S. Census Bureau….

…So, this is the executive summary of the study:

• Cary saw one of the largest growth percentages (60 percent) in telecommuting activity in the nation. In 2014, 11.4 percent of the workers who live in Cary telecommuted. That’s up from 7.1 percent in 2007.

• Raleigh’s telecommuting activity growth was 11 percent during the same period, growing from 5.4 percent in 2007 to 6.2 percent in 2014. Let’s not forget the total number of employed workers who live in the city grew substantially in seven years.

• Durham actually saw a slight drop in telecommuting activity (from 4.2 percent to 4 percent).

“The figures for Raleigh and Cary are well above the national telecommuting average of 4.5 percent and North Carolina’s state average of 4.7 percent,” noted Maddie Rogers of FlexJobs.” excerpts from the TBJ article.
